On 22nd of May 2009 at “Ivan Vazov” Secondary school was held a patronal feast.

Father Marko of the church “St. St. Apostles Peter and Paul” hold water for a grand inauguration of the school flag. Nikolai Smolinski took the flag with the words “ Accept the flag clean and pure and I promise to keep it as a sanctuary”. This symbol of the school was recovered and restored in 2008 by Ministry of Education and Science.

Head mistress Mrs. Radostina Georgieva handed diplomas to the winners and nominees for the traditional prize “ Student of the school year”.

The students who earned the award are: I grade - Diana Manolova, II grade- Genoveva Choralieva and ІІІ grade - Plamena Berberova .

After the completion of the official ceremony, the students with a lot of flowers went to the monument in front of the school, in the centre of Sopot, the House of Ivan Vazov and “Radinoto uchilishte” and heard lectures given by teachers of history.
