On April 27, 2012 in Plovdiv, a district competition was held in “Protection in disasters, accidents and emergencies”. 15 teams competed in three rounds. Veselina Petkova, Nicoletta Krusteva, Angelina Lazarova and Nedyalko Dzhorov from VII grade with their coach -Ralitsa Dimova presented "Ivan Vazov" Secondary School, Sopot.

During the first round, they had a quiz test in different sections: natural disasters, industrial accidents, fire protection, individual and collective protection and first aid. Our team came in first on this round.

On the second round, the students had a practical examination of knowledge in four centers. Our team was the quickest, but small flaws in the competitive game left us in second place.

On the third round, contestants demonstrated their knowledge, skills and dexterity to perform tasks in rendering first aid. Our students worked in three points: resuscitation of an unconscious person, one review to determine injuries and first aid to a victim with a broken vertebra. Again, our team had excellent marks.

In the final standings, our team came in second. Prizes were a Cup and a Certificate for the school and silver medals for participants.
