In the eve of celebrations for 1st November, the day of those who bequeathed knowledge and customs to us, students and teachers of “Ivan Vazov” Secondary School presented their project “A trip in our native town”. All guides in the trip were students. Their purpose was to teach other students about interesting facts of History of Educational system and its development, and facts about their school, which is a follower of Modern School, established in 1838, and facts about works and names of teachers and enlighteners who had worked in the town: Jordan Nenov, Kalist Lukov, nikola Vabanov, Goerge Ikonomov, monk Sophronii and monk Christopher , Elena Bencheva, who made a copy of Paisiy’s history; George Hadjinikolov; Penka Hadzhinikolova.

 

Students and teachers expressed their gratitude to one of the finest Revival masters and enlighteners – Ivan Vazov by a short speech, and they laid flowers at his memorial in the schoolyard. Then the trip went along to the streets of Sopot, which bearing the names of prominent revival persons. During the trip, students learnt more about life and works of the Bulgarian enlighteners. Our guides were telling a lot of interesting facts while they were walking through Rada’s School, Convent School , Trapeto Hill and “St. Spas” Monastery. The final destination of the trip was the water-mill of Old Stoyan, where an old man, called Neno, showed the newest tourist attraction in the town of Sopot – the Water-mill. On the other hand students proved to him their knowledge about the work of the patriarch of the Bulgarian Literature – Ivan Vazov .
