The Ninth Bulgarian National History Competition “Like Levsky” took place in National History Museum , Sofia on 27.02.2014 with the support of the Community Hall “Miladinov Brothers – 1917” and Vitosha region. Students from “Ivan Vazov”- Secondary School, Sopot, students from one of schools in Dupnitsa and students from 4 of Sofia Schools participated in the National Competition. The team of Ïvan Vazov” Secondary school was consisted mainly of 6th grade students: Krasimira Yordanova, Anna Macheva, Edhze Ramadanova, Lachezar Petkov, Nikola Kasabov and Dimiter Nonchev. A large team of teachers and students took part in the preparation and also supported the participants during the competition.

The competition was divided into 3 rounds: “We know about Levski”, “We remember about Levski”” and “Like Levsky” and at the end each participant wrote an essay about “What is Levsky for me?”. In the first round our student talked about 1. Vasil Levski’s Internal Revolutionary committees 2. Our attitude to Vasil Levski nowadays.

In the second round students demonstrated their knowledge about Vasil Levski in Literature, Arts, National Monuments connected with Levski, cinema and theater. In the third round the students recreated the legend “Near to the fountain in the convent yard”. In the presentation and the dramatization of the legend were shown very few unknown facts about Sopot and its relationship with Levski.

The jury evaluated the kids was consisted by members of National History Museum – Sofia, the heiress of Vasil Levski’s family and the actress Slava Racheva.

Our team won the first pace and the special prize of “Smart” Foundation and received a certification for participation. An individual prize was awarded to Dimiter Nonchev for his essay

The whole staff at “Ivan Vazov” Secondary school is very proud of their performance.

There are no winners, there are no losers! We think that the result of competition will be a part of our soul and memory
