The competition “Nature is our Home” was held on April 24, 2014 at the National Palace of Children in Sofia. It is a part of the national calendar of school activities of the Ministry of Education and it is conducted in partnership with the "Eureka." This competition is dedicated to Earth’s Day. The aim is to increase the students interest about the environmental issues, to help them in building a new citizenship and to protect a sense of responsibility about the environment.

Students’ teams from Sofia, Botunets, Gotse Delchev, Blagoevgrad, Pernik, Kroumovgrad and Sopot, took part in the competition. The jury was presented by Professor Svetoslav Gerasimov, Associate Professor Petrana Stoewa and Boryana Karmanova.

The team of Secondary School "Ivan Vazov" - Sopot was composed of seventh graders: Denitza Chonova, Dobromir Petrov and the fifth grader Nenko Kovachev and their Biology teacher Mrs. Dafinka Ivanova. Our participants in the competition presented the main characteristics of the environmental situation in Sopot municipality and the reserve "North Djendem”, they also recognized birds and plants which are protected in the Red Book, and showed and defended the project" Green House of the Future”.

In the final standings points our participants assigned the third place and diploma, medals and sort of gifts were awarded to them by the organizers.

The presentations of all teams were interesting and they opened anyone to at least one unknown beautiful place in Bulgaria, which anyone can visit. All participants left the competition happy and enriched with new knowledge and ideas.
