“The Foreigner” – The Annual Concert of “Ivan Vazov” Secondary School |

Traditionally days upon St. Cyril and Methodius’ Day, students from “Ivan Vazov” Secondary school presented a show for their parents and public. On 9 May 2014 Europe Day, at the hall of the library " Ivan Vazov - 1876 " - Sopot, the artists were surprised by an " English Collegian" who was travelling around the Balkans. He was greeted with a song of the Rose Valley and a basket filled with Gul. John looked at the show with great pleasure. During the performance John learnt the legends of The Rhodope Mountains and the Hemus, The Rila and Pirin , Vitosha and Lyulin . He understood why some Bulgarian villages have weird names, he walked around the different areas in Bulgaria through songs and folk dances. John was impressed by folk customs , rituals and beliefs which fulfilled that day. He was pleased to meet with Nane and Voeten,Sly Peter, he joined to sedanka . He was amazed by the authentic folklore, unique handicrafts of wool . John tasted some bread from “banizza” filled with cheese, from the famous yogurt and enjoyed the banter of young men and women . At the end of the show John thanked to the public in broken Bulgarian language, but he had not time to learn the Danube dance .
