164^th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Vazov and / 1850-1921 / and 120 years from the publishing of the novel "Under the Yoke" as a separate publication.

This year during the summer vacation at "Ivan Vazov" Secondary School, it was begun a preparation for Vazov holidays in Sopot. Students and teachers took part in the events, which were organized by the Municipality of Sopot as exhibitions, meetings and performances.

On July 4, Galia, Angelina and Martin from Grade 9^th , Aygull and Ivan of Grade 8th, with their literature teachers: Valentina Minkova and Vesselina Miryanova participated in a thematic quiz "Following the footsteps of Vazov and his heroes". The quiz was organized by the museum "Ivan Vazov" - Sopot. The competition was among students from different schools in Bulgaria – Stara Zagora, Dimitrovgrad, Mezdra and Sopot which are named to the patriarch of Bulgarian literature – Ivan Vazov. The quiz was separated into three rounds. In the first round students had to show their knowledge about the survey of "Under the Yoke". In the second round the teams had to present their favorite moments of the novel. The all presentations were impressive. In the third round students had to guess moments from the film "Under the Yoke". In the final round the students had to read their essays on "Under the Yoke, and I". According to the jury there were no winners and losers. All participants and audience learned more about the most amazing book about Bulgarians. The teams from Sopot and Mesdra took the first place and teams of Stara Zagora and Dimitrovgrad - the second. The school teams received unique awards - the novel made ​​of crystal, and some kind of Renaissance book for all participants .

On July 8 Minister Klisarova presented the awards from the national school competition for drawing, essay or photography. The drawing of our student Galia Spasova 9^th “A” class was ranked on the third place.

On July 9 students from "Ivan Vazov" Secondary School were included in the children's morning "I am Bulgarian", organized by the Centre that working with children, and then they laid flowers in front of the monument of Ivan Vazov for the celebrations for the 164th anniversary of his birth.
